I am concerned that the needs of small towns and rural areas might be overlooked. If elected, I will make sure that Desborough and surrounding villages have a strong voice speaking up on their behalf ensuring that we get our fair share of resources and essential services’

Yvonne has experience as a member of her local Parish Council, and over the years she has been actively involved in many community activities. Yvonne has a wealth of experience in negotiation, organisation and successful campaigning. She is aware of the deterioration of public services which are a life-line for many within our village communities.

She says – The new structure will bring opportunities to review the services provided and ensure that they are responsive to the needs of local communities. Local councils should be transparent, accountable and willing to listen. If elected, I will do my best to make sure that your voice is heard. If elected to the North Northants Council I will make every effort to attend meetings of the Desborough Town Council whenever possible. I also undertake to attend meetings in other parishes from time to time if invited or required.’

A voice for the Villages

‘I live in a village and I love the sense of community but for some it can mean isolation and a lack of essential services. There is an assumption that people in rural areas are all self-reliant and / or wealthy. I know from experience that this is not always the case, elderly people still need care services, young people may need children’s services, there are often unmet needs for teenagers and young families. If elected I will do my best to ensure that people in rural areas receive the services they need’
