Conservative Councillor removed due to non-attendance

One of the three Conservative members of Desborough Town Council has ceased to be a member due to non attendance.

The note from the Town Clerk states –

‘As you may know, Cllr Roberts has not attended a meeting since 19 September 2024.

In accordance with s85 of the Local Government Act 1972, if a member has failed to attend a meeting of the Council for at least six months and has not had the reason for non-attendance approved by the Council within that time (not afterwards), they have ceased to be a member of the Council.  The Council has not approved the reasons for Cllr Roberts’ absences over the last six months and it is with regret that I have to inform you she has automatically ceased to be a member of Desborough Town Council.’

The make up of the Town Council is now –

7 Labour, 2 Conservative, 1 Liberal Democrat, 1 Independent
