Fair pay for Care Workers
We have been asked how we will campaign for fair pay for care workers.
None of us are yet able to act in the capacity of a Town Councillor until we have completed the necessary paperwork and handed it to the ‘Proper officer’ of the Council so it would be a bit early to start commenting on delivering election pledges.
However, once the formalities are dealt with it would be quite in order for any one of us to write to the North Northants Council and ask –
- How many Care Workers are directly employed by the council?
- Are they on standard local government contracts and Terms and Conditions?
- How many Care Workers are employed by contractors and what provision is made in the contacting process in respect of terms and conditions of employment?
- Are contractors monitored to ensure that they are employed on terms and conditions which meet the requirements laid down in the contract?
There are many other ways that we could campaign on behalf of Care Workers and I have no doubt that we will.
