LOCAL NEED – LABOUR COUNCIL – LIVES IMPROVED
A Desborough resident raised concerns about the lack of a lift in Hazeland House. The issue was that people move into the first floor flats whilst they were relatively fit and active but as the years passed many would become less mobile and eventually become prisoners in their own home with no way of negotiating the stairs. Moving downstairs was an option but the inconvenience and expense of moving was a daunting prospect for many in their twilight years.
Local Councillors took up the issue and a lift was installed (also in Madams Gardens in Rothwell).

A stark contrast to the current situation regarding stairlifts in Saxon Close.
