Vacancy on Desborough Town Council

Desborough Labour Party has taken the decision that it will not call for a by election to fill this vacancy because

  1. the person elected would only have 12 months, or less, to serve before the next elections which are due to be held in May 2025.
  2. The cost to local taxpayers would be in the region of £8000.00 for a by election.
  3. A’ like for like’ (that is the co-option of an Independent) would be the best way of filling the current vacancy in the Loatland Ward at the present time.

Of course, when the notice is published, ten residents in the ward have the right to submit a letter calling for a by election and if this happens there is no doubt that the Labour Party will put up a candidate.
